• Changing the keymapping in Indexed Message Reader (Mystic)

From hyjinx@21:1/126 to All on Sat May 22 21:45:47 2021
    Hi All,

I find the UX of the Indexed Message Reader a bit confusing when it comes to the keybindings. I've never liked pressing L when in the message view to go back. The experience should be the same all the way through - I believe that there should only be one key (ESC or Q) to back to the last menu/thing, pressing a combination of L, ESC and Q depending upon where you are in the index reader is a confusing experience for me, and I've been using the
indexed message reader for a good while, I still make the same mistakes.

At first I niaevely thought that it would be a simple menu editing thing, but can't find it in menu editor, then I thought, it'll be an mps script that I
can compile.. not that I can find.. so where/how does one change these keybindings?

    Thanks!

You don't - normally. It's hard coded in to the index reader. You can hack it though. Search till you find the key bindings (searching for L, ESC & Q, then change the characters to what you want in a hex editor, but you'd have to
keep doing that for every new Alpha. The same search the same default bindings and changes. I remember doing that to a few things early on. Perhaps they
    are in MSG_INDEX.INI? As in mystic/themes/default/text/MSG_INDEX.INI ;)
