• fsxnet file areas on Synchronet

From infectedbootsector@21:4/174 to All on Fri Feb 17 17:07:55 2023
    Hi all,

Anyone here a sysop of a SynchroNet board and succesfully using the file areas from fsxnet?

I had them set up and working just fine on Mystic. I've got what I think is a good config on Synchronet but something is clearly missing. The areas are set up. Log review doesn't show anything obvious. At some point, it seemed to be working at least partially because I was seeing some files for the images area coming in (the APOD pics from NASA). THey weren't getting tossed to the areas though...

    What does it show?

    Hi deon,

Thanks for your reply. On examination of the sbbsecho log, I see nothing related to the file areas. This jogged my memory a bit and I realize I don't have a TIC processor configured on here.

It's been years and years since I've set this up, so it's a journey in memory recall in some cases. The documentation is thin on file areas, but I think this is the problem now.

I'll keep plugging away at it as I have time this weekend. Are you using TickIt?

I think Synchronet has its own internal tic processor.

There is a wiki page fot TickIT that explains pretty much everything..

    I do use tickit yes.

IMHO, setting up file processing is a little complex, but it does work.

You need to define the area in scfg, then in tickitcfg define the tag and link to the area.

Running jsexec -n tickit normally gives you a good reason why TIC files havent been processed (and you can run it many times until you see that the TIC files do get processed).

    Hi Deon,
Got it working, and thanks for the memory jog. All that was missing was the tic processor configuration. Easy enough to fix.
