Hello All. New Winpoint user here, after many years away from Fidonet.
Installation was painless,
especially compared to the days of struggling to get
X00/Binkley/QuickBBS, and all of the required axilliary programs running.
One nagging issue I am having, it that during message entry, every character I type appears to be followed by a space, no matter what font
or font size I try.
Also, after I first got it configured and running, I exited by hitting
the "X" in the upper right corner.
I suspect that this didn't properly close all of the files, because I got an error when I tried to run it again.
Reinstalling, and telling it to overwrite the configuration files got it fixed. Since then, I have used FILE|EXIT to quit, and haven't had any trouble.
Is this a known issue?
Welcome back and welcome to the world of WinPoint :-)

I've never seen that happen here.
I forgot to ask...do I need to worry about getting a nodelist and compiling it?

It's not a deal breaker for me. I have a screenshot comparing the text spacing in the message reading window compared to the text entry window, which I, of course, can't attach. I'll try sending it to you vie
netmail.

why not just post it to some image hosting site and then post a link to
it in a message? that's how it is done in many other venues and software packages...

If you don't intend sending crash netmail(s), doing file requests or sending direct file attaches, then you don't need a nodelist.

If you don't intend sending crash netmail(s), doing file requests or
sending direct file attaches, then you don't need a nodelist.
Since nearly everyone uses the internet to transfer mail now, is there
any disadvantage to crashmail?
Is it frowned on?

For some reason, the one I tried sharing isn't working. Try this one instead:

This window on the left is the message view window, and on the right
is the text in the message entry window. You can see that even quoted
text is spaced differently.

Thanks for appreciating that one. Since it exists (at least 20 years), no one ever mentioned it :)

Newbie user here, my Deutsch is horrid, I have looked in the docs I
can read and still have a question. Can I change the origin line to something else?
If yes, can I get some pointers as to where I can make this change?
Danke

Yes, that works and I can see exactly what the problem is.
