Hello All. New Winpoint user here, after many years away from Fidonet.

Installation was painless, especially compared to the days of struggling to get X00/Binkley/QuickBBS, and all of the required axilliary programs running.

One nagging issue I am having, it that during message entry, every character I type appears to be followed by a space, no matter what font or font size I try.

Also, after I first got it configured and running, I exited by hitting the "X" in the upper right corner. I suspect that this didn't properly close all of the files, because I got an error when I tried to run it again. Reinstalling, and telling it to overwrite the configuration files got it fixed. Since then, I have used FILE|EXIT to quit, and haven't had any trouble. Is this a known issue?

    Regards,
    Al Thompson

    Excellent :)

    Ah yes, happy days! ;)

One nagging issue I am having, it that during message entry, every character I type appears to be followed by a space, no matter what font

I've *never* seen that happen here.

Also, after I first got it configured and running, I exited by hitting
the "X" in the upper right corner.

    I *always* do that.

I suspect that this didn't properly close all of the files, because I got an error when I tried to run it again.

No errors here, how strange ??

Do you remember what the error message was?

Reinstalling, and telling it to overwrite the configuration files got it fixed. Since then, I have used FILE|EXIT to quit, and haven't had any trouble.

Well, at least you've fixed it :)

    Is this a known issue?

    Nope.

    I've missed the Fidonet community.

It's not a deal breaker for me. I have a screenshot comparing the text spacing in the message reading window compared to the text entry window, which I, of course, can't attach. I'll try sending it to you vie netmail.

If you don't intend sending crash netmail(s), doing file requests or sending *direct* file attaches, then you don't need a nodelist.

Just a word on file attaches:
Some SysOps don't allow in-transit files through their systems, so it's always best to send them Crash/Direct. In that case, you would need an installed/compiled nodelist.

why not just post it to some image hosting site and then post a link to it in a message? that's how it is done in many other venues and software packages...
