...Today's Topic for Flood Safety Awareness Week is Flood
    Safety...

The National Weather Service, in cooperation with the Arkansas
Division of Emergency Management, has proclaimed the week of
March 6th through 10th as Flood Safety Awareness Week in Arkansas.
Each day during the week will feature information about a
    different flood related topic.

    ...Flood Safety...

Nearly every day, flooding happens somewhere in the United States
or its territories. Flooding can occur anywhere in Arkansas at
any time of the year. Flooding causes more damage in the country
than any other weather related event. On average, floods cause eight
billion dollars in damages and eighty to ninety fatalities annually.
More than half of these deaths are the result of driving into flood
waters. Flooding claimed the lives of four Arkansans in 2022 alone.
Being prepared and knowing how to stay safe will help you and your
    loved ones survive a flood.

Emergency preparedness is the responsibility of every citizen in
Arkansas. All Arkansans are urged to make preparedness a priority
and work together as a team to ensure that individuals, families,
and communities are ready for flood disasters. Join us this week
and help spread the word about flood safety.
