no. you have excess space before origin.

It seems that Golded limits the total length of the origin line to 80 bytes. With three byte characters in the "text" part the limit is easely reached.

Maybe we can get rid of that limit?

    Cheers, Michiel

I do not mean it. you have "__*_Origin", instead "_*_Origin"

that may have been a quote thing... i do not see any origin lines in these messages with two leading spaces... only in that one that was quoted...

It displayed the Cyrillic characters perfectly, but when I wanted to save I got this:

panic: encoding: rune not supported by encoding.

I got that too in my first attempt to enter non-ASCII characters. It is a bit of an overreactions.

I found out it happens when you attempt to enter a character that is not supported by the character set in use. For example when you try to enter an umlauted character when CP866 is active.

I have this in my config:

    - name: UTF-8
    chrs: UTF-8 4

    Wow ... thanx!

    Some things I noticed:
    PID: ATED+lin 1.0.3-151-fdf5d41d
There is the Go missing ;))

It would be great if you could support this in the future:
Possibility to sort unread messages at the beginning.
Possibility to search areas by typing the name. (When I press u all areas with u will go to the top)
Possibility to delete lines with Alt-D in the editor.
Search for a default config (eg. config.yml in ./ and ~/.goated) and load it if found and no config given on cmdline.
Allow q on msg list to quote reply. (not only alt-q and ctrl-q)

I really like goated, I am looking forward to trying new versions ;))
I have just added me as a watcher in github.

    Thanx for your work!

    Some additional ideas ;))
F1 help (with the keybindings from the wiki, and maybe even configurable like goldhelp.cfg)

Not for the near future a message lister (like L in golded)

You can even use different charsets in different areas.

    I use CP850 in all areas except UTF-8 where I use utf-8 ;)

Great. I too have a few items for the wishlist (in random order)

    - TZUTC kludge.
Some tossers use that for sorting messages.

    - default decoding configurable per aera.
As it is, one can only globally configure the decoding to use when
there is no CHRS: kludge in the message. My personal opinion is that
every message using non ASII characters should have a CHRS kludge but
the reality is that sometimes it is missing. A general dafault may
be enough for those that mostly read Russian areas, but default CP866
is uncomfortable for us who read Ducth and German areas as well. So
in adadiion to the global default I would like something like:
    chrs: UTF-8 4
    default: CP850
    [..]
    areas:
    - name: R50.SYSOP
    chars: CP866 2
    default: CP866
    - name: SYSOPS.NL
    chars: UTF-8 4
    - name: NODES.024
    chars: CP850 2
    default: LATIN-1
    - name: UTF-8
    origin: UTF-8 Evangelist

    - Origin configurable per area.

That is about all I can think of now...

Once again thank you for this nice present to the UTF-8 enthousiasts. :-)

Using printable characters for commands is not such a good idea in a multilangual/multicharacter environment.

The meaning of such keys changes when changing keyboards. I see this with the '>' and '<' keys. They only work with the keyboard in Dutch or US mode. With the keyboard in German or Russian mode they do not work, the keys have a different meaning in those modes.

Use only non printable key sequences for commands in an envionment where one can change the keyboard to a different character set.
