No. Microsoft saw the light when they made XP do unicode internally.

MvdV> No. Microsoft saw the light when they made XP do unicode internally.

Technically they did it right, communication wize, they have a website that
cannot be reached by the majority of the internet users.

I don't understand what you mean. All browsers that I came across have supported IDN for many years.

Do you have a problem reaching Benny's website?

Sure, I have no way to enter the Danish characters from my keyboard.
And I don't need suggestions that only work in MS products and even those
    are laboursome.

No cut and page on your system?

Ok, I see what you mean. But then again it is irrelevant. Obviously these wbsites with "international" domain names are targetted at those familiar with the language. And /they/ would have installed the proper keyboard and associated driver for that language.

Yes I have, but when the URL is already mangled when presented, cut and
    paste won't help you.

Well actually it was not mangled in de original message, and cut and
paste works. But normally my terminal program recognizes URL's, a right
button click will open a select window, with the option to open the
URL in a browser. That did not happen now.

Indeed, I cannot read the gibberish anyway. And I have plenty of server here,
that present the same info as Benny's website.

I did not say it cannot be done. Try writing a message in Cyrrilic with
a chractermap app. ;( If youare lucky, the app has a buffer and you can
write on it like a keyboard app on a tablet.

    So far so good.

Hmmm.... I can't check that, I do not use a terminal program that supports that option to begin with.

I assume it will work for a link presented in e-mail or in a browser though...

The website that Benny pointed to does not provide any info at all, just a notification that it works.

If I will need to write long letters in some new script, for example Hebrew, at first I will bother with buying new keyboard or at least new labels. If I need to enter few symbols I will use charmap (or will use compose key, which allows to easily enter diacritics).
