• sbbsimsg / Inter-BBS messaging

    From Mortifis@1:103/705 to All on Fri Apr 2 10:14:09 2021
    I've noticed recently that my users do not show up in the inter-bbs messaging/telegram list on other boards. All of the relevant ports are open/forwarded and services enabled. Any ideas?

    Yes, all seems good. I ran your scanmyports.ssjs and everything required passed; looked at sbbsimsg.lst and alleycat is listed; checked my router and confirmed ports are open and forwarded properly; made sure availability is on, still ot showing any logged on users on my board.

    According to sbbslist.json here:
    "last_success": {
    "on": "2021-04-02T08:01:09.028Z",
    "result": "Synchronet BBS for Linux Version 3.18",
    "stopcause": "Poll timeout reached: 10 seconds",
    "service": {
    "address": "alleycatbbs.com",
    "protocol": "telnet",
    "port": 23,
    "description": "telnet"
    },
    "ip_address": "24.224.194.149",
    "other_services": {
    "tcp": [
    "ftp",
    "msp",
    "nntp",
    "smtp",
    "pop3"
    ],
    "udp": []
    }
    }
    That indicates the active-user/UDP request did not receive a response.

    I just tried it manually, using scanmyports.ssjs and it did receive a response:
    UDP Service Port Result
    systat 11 Success

    So... it should also work during the daily verification. Give it another look tomorrow. <shrug>

    Yes, I just ran scanmyports.ssjs again, the only ones that fail are: qotd; ident; imap; ircs; irc. alleycat bbs is in the dailly sbbslist but did not make it into sbbsimsg.lst. This issue seems to have started when I migrated over to an rpi4 Buster, though I cannot see that being a problem, though my posts are getting slammed pretty hard lately, might that cause a timeout?
