• Timed Event - Program Execution

From Brian Klauss@1:103/705 to GitLab issue in main/sbbs on Tue Feb 23 09:31:15 2021
    open https://gitlab.synchro.net/main/sbbs/-/issues/227

The execution of DOSEMU-based Timed Events is failing as the specified command-line and startup directories are not properly transferred to external.bat.SCFG->External Programs->Timed EventStart-up Directory ../xtrn/l77/breContents of external.bat:@lredir E: linux\fs\sbbs\xtrn\l77 >NULThe only workaround is to change the command line to be fully qualified: E:\BRE\BRE_I.BAT.The Timed Event Start-up Directory should properly transfer to external.bat.

Going through the documentation and source, it is working as intended. The stripping of the trailing directory in "Start-up Directory" is as intended. The external.bat CDs to the trailing directory. Although the logic of this can be confusing, I'd consider this closed.

Ultimately, the question comes down to this... why is it that way?

You'd have to ask Ryan Underwood who wrote the original DOSEMU patch. http://www.icequake.net/bbs/syncmods/
Nobody's every complained about it being that way. <shrug>
