• New SBBS v3.20?

From Jbledsoe@1:103/705 to Digital Man on Thu Dec 1 13:26:30 2022
    Rob,

I see you're hard at work on the next version of Synchronet, looks like version 3.20?

Just wondering when it will be ready for prime time (official release) and if you're looking for beta testers?

    JB

I imagine it'll be ready for official release pretty soon. Yes, testers of the v320_dev branch are welcome (I've posted about it here before) and encouraged!

The Windows binaries are there too: https://gitlab.synchro.net/main/sbbs/-/pipelines

Find a pipeline against the "v320a_dev" branch and click the sbbs-windows:archive "Download artifacts" link.

You may need to download multiple artifact archives to get all the .exe's though.

I've found all of them but SBBSCTRL.EXE. I can run SBBS.EXE from a DOS prompt and it seems to work. But I'd rather run it from SBBSCTRL.EXE. So if that could be included in the next build, I'd appreciate it! :)

    Thanks!

sbbsctrl.exe will still be there in an older artifact archive, but I can't tell you which one (I don't know). I'll see if I can configure to gitlab to include all the artifacts in all the archives so we don't have to play this game. :-)

How do you pull the latest source off gitlab? will a git pull do it? I just installed and it installed 3.19. On linux.

The master branch in git is still v3.19. If you want to the v3.20 branch (experimental), you'd need to switch-to and pull from the v320a_dev branch.

Branches are not normally cloned separately (you clone *all* branches with one operation). You switch branches with the 'git checkout' command, e.g. 'git checkout v320a_dev'.

sbbsctrl.exe will still be there in an older artifact archive, but I can't tell you which one (I don't know). I'll see if I can configure to gitlab to include all the artifacts in all the archives so we don't have to play this game. :-)

Okay, I finally got to the bottom of the CI pipeline artifact issue with the Windows builds and sbbsctrl.exe (and other missing .exe's) are in there now.
