• Change startup sequence for users

From Janni@1:103/705 to All on Tue Aug 23 08:22:24 2022
    Hi,

I'm back into BBSes after some 25 years but never as a sysop. I may be frequent here with all my questions, lol.

How do I change the startup sequence when people login
so they get directly to main without all the dialogs before ?

    Thanks in advance

By "startup sequence", it sounds like you mean the activity when someone logs on? That's controlled by logon.js (in sbbs/exec). And before you make changes, it would be a good idea to copy logon.js to sbbs/mods and change that copy instead. That way, if you update Synchronet's .js files, you won't accidentally overwrite your own customizations.

Users can use the "fast logon" option by prepending an '!' to their login name.

Or you, as sysop, can delete disable stuff permanently to customize the login sequence:

    Thanks for the great tip.

I looked at the .js and it wasn't straight forward (at least not for me).

What would be the line for:
    "Read your mail now" prompt
"Search all groups for new messages" prompt.

    Thanks again.

    Didn't know that. Thanks!

You really need to spend some time in SCFG (the configuration tool for Synchronet). Go through the "New User" settings and dig around in *ALL*
of the menus. You will find the toggles/settings for all those things,
    right there.

Those lines are in your ctrl/text.dat file https://wiki.synchro.net/custom:text.dat

Each user also has the option to disable the "Search all groups for new messages" prompt during logon.
