i just got a load of oolllldd messages from 2010 in here... i swear i
didn't push that button!
Sorry about that, folks -- I know what I did but I don't know why it rescanned.
probably lost the high water mark message... that's why, when doing message base stuffs, i always...
1. turn off the mailer
2. move legitimate outbound mail to a holding directory
3. do the work
4. run the tosser to scan out anything that it thinks needs to go
5. delete those newly generated packets since they are likely regurge
6. copy the valid mail from the holding directory back to the outbound
7. and finally turning the mailer back on
somewhere between 4 and 5, i might run inspecta to look deep into a packet but most of the time i just use list... inspecta allows me to remove messages if i need to but i generally don't need to... also, at some point, once that legitimate mail is gone, i delete it out of the holding directory since i only copied it back over... i prefer to keep a copy a little longer just in case ;)
