    MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

    Title: Creamed Chipped Beef (S.O.S.)
    Categories: Beef, Dairy, Breads, Vegetables
    Yield: 4 servings

    4 1/2 oz (2 jars) sliced dried beef;
    - in 1/2" strips
    3 tb Butter
    3 tb All-purpose flour
    1/2 ts Onion powder
    1/2 ts Salt
    1/4 ts Black pepper
    2 c Milk
    1 tb Worcestershire sauce
    4 sl White bread; toasted, halved
    - diagonally

    Place beef in a medium bowl and add enough warm water to
    cover. Soak 2 minutes; drain.

    In a medium skillet over medium heat, melt butter; add
    flour, onion powder, salt, and pepper and cook 1 minute,
    stirring constantly. Add milk and Worcestershire sauce;
    mix well.

    Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and stir in beef.
    Cook 2 to 3 minutes, or until sauce is thickened,
    stirring constantly.

    Spoon an equal amount of beef mixture over each piece of
    toast. Serve immediately.

    Title: Fifties-Style Salisbury Steak
    Categories: Beef, Breads, Vegetables, Soups, Mushrooms
    Yield: 6 servings

    10 3/4 oz Can cream of mushroom soup;
    - divided
    1 lb Ground beef
    1/3 c Dry bread crumbs
    1/2 c Fine chopped onion
    1 lg Egg; beaten
    2 ts Chopped fresh parsley; extra
    - as a garnish
    1 ts Garlic powder
    1/2 ts Black pepper
    1/4 c Milk
    1 1/2 c Sliced fresh mushrooms

    In a large bowl, thoroughly combine 1/4 cup soup, the
    ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, egg, 2 teaspoons
    chopped fresh parsley, the garlic powder, and pepper.
    Shape into firm patties.

    Coat a large skillet with cooking spray. Over
    medium-high heat, cook half the patties until browned on
    both sides. Remove from skillet and set aside; repeat

    procedure with remaining patties. Spoon off fat.

    In same skillet, mix together remaining soup, the milk,
    and mushrooms, then return patties to skillet. Reduce
    heat to low, cover, and cook 20 minutes or until patties
    are cooked through and no pink remains, turning
    occasionally.

    Garnish with parsley, if desired, and serve.
