Is Tracks Ahead still being carried anywhere out there? My PBS station
stopped it a few years ago and sadly it has never returned.

The series is not listed as canceled or finished. Season 9 ended in June 2015 so that is 4 years of nothing however there was a 4 year gap between season 5 and 6 from 2002 to 2006. Maybe that is the case again, one could hope!!!

Smithsonian runs some nice train shows, but I never hear about them ahead of time. Usually I end up stumbling onto it when it's almost over. I need to start checking their web page or something.

The local PBS station carries Great Scenic Railways during pledge drives,
but it ends up being the same episodes each time. I don't think it's in production anymore.

A while back I found a couple of railroad based channels on Roku, but they
had limited content and never added anything new, then eventually
    disappeared.

    That's interesting, I didn't realize that. I suppose being such a
specialized show it takes a while to gather up enough funding to produce another season.

I wonder if there are any other shows out there that cover the same type of material. A while back I spotted a series on YouTube that originally aired
on a UK network that showed people putting in backyard model railroad
setups. It was amazing what the lengths they went to. I believe the host
ran a business helping design and install backyard model railroads. There seemed to be a pretty decent demand for it. I'll have to check and see if
that ever came back, if I can remember the name of it! ;)

    Ray,

My brother in Syracuse turned me on to Virtual Railfan LIVE on youtube. He meet up with them at the yearly train show in Pennsylvania last year and learned of them. Our big BNSF rail yard out here in New Mexico down in a
small town called Belen is a big regional hub where the freight comes in straight from LA's shores then it is diverted to destinations once in Belen NM.

Virtual Railfan has many other locations you can view like Belen 24/7
for free!! Not the same as the TV shows but still something to watch from time to time when there is good activity! Also nice to have on in the back ground when working on a layout! ;)

It has been a couple of years since I asked about it and who knows if the same folks are still around, but has anyone heard if there is any hope for any new episodes? I visited the YouTube channel and the last post was 5 years ago. Sometimes things pop up on streaming services and if you don't have that service you don't hear about it. I realize it's a long shot, but thought I would ask anyway.

Is there anything out there being produced today that is similar?
