    endings... it looks like your gpg is outputting with (eg) CRLF
    line endings and your tool that is bringing the message back
    into your tbird is seeing the CRLF as two EoLs which puts the
    blank lines in... whatever tool you're using to apply the
    signatures to tbird messages is where i'd be looking... which
    tool is that, BTW?

    this one appeared to be fine... not sure if you reinstalled before writing/saving your message or not, though...

    I use gpg from two different systems.

    [1] TB/Enigmail as per tearline below, a pc at my remote/work location.
    [2] TB/Enigmail on XP pc, primarily from home.

    The [2] system seems to be broken. :( Hopefully it just requires re-installing
    the TB plugin.
