    Yay, FreePascal!

Do you think your could would compile under OS/2? I have a working FP setup under my ArcaOS/Maximus-based BBS ... I could give it a try.

    Yep, it's still alive 'n kickin' :-)

Do you think your could would compile under OS/2?

I'm not sure whether it would or not, so I've passed your question on to
the developer for his comments, stay tooooooned.

I have a working FP setup under my ArcaOS/Maximus-based BBS ...

What version of fpc is it?

I could give it a try.

If you, or anyone else, could get it to compile under OS/2 or ArcaOS it
would make me a very very happy man indeed.

Please note: the third-party Indy10 libraries are required but they are
*not* included in the OpenXP source. See 'Readme.txt' in the Indy10
directory of the OpenXP source tarball for instructions on how/where to
get them from and for other important information before attempting to compile the source.

As soon as the developer gets back to me I'll post his comments.

    Regards,
    Martin

What version of fpc is it?

It's 3.2.0 (I think?). It's the latest version, whatever it is.

If you, or anyone else, could get it to compile under OS/2 or ArcaOS it would make me a very very happy man indeed.

I'd be happy to try. I am slowly working on moving my BBS to MBSE under
Devuan Linux but I do have ArcaOS to run in a VM as soon as I get around
    to it.

Oh, I'm only too familiar with running around chasing down dependencies
    for stuff, heh.

As soon as the developer gets back to me I'll post his comments.

Sure thing. If he'd like to contact me directly, my BBS email is sysop@outpostbbs.net.

I am just trying to make more stuff available for more people. :)

Yes, the latest version is 3.2.0 but we're still using 3.0.4, so I'll
contact the developer with a view to upgrading to 3.2.0

Thought you might but I had to mention it if only to save you the bother

OK, I'll pass your email address on to the developer(Gunter Sandner).

    Hi Martin,

I am just trying to make more stuff available for more people. :)

    Excellent attitude, bravo! :)

There's always been a lack of modern software for OS/2 and I do try to help.

I found the public domain source code of an excellent bearing calculator (used in amateur radio) in Turbo Pascal flavor recently. I was able to successfully compile it for Linux, OS/2, Win32, Win64, and DOS. Once I have a little more time here, I'm going to release it. I am just cleaning up the code and will be adding colorized output to the program using the unit from my door writing unit.

I don't know if you know or not, but I am the author behind the Cheepware line of BBS doors and sysop utilities. I've been developing them since 1998. My doors are open source and on Github though I'll be moving everything Sourceforge soon. I am also a member of the MBSE BBS Development Team.

So I try to spread the love around in the BBS world to help things keep going.

Thanks to you and Gunter (I hope that's right) for all of your efforts.

He's come back to me and here's what he had to say .....

    ---------- 8< ----------
    "It won't work :)

Despite of the fact that I don't have OS/2 and never used it, the Indy
Internet component suite doesn't support OS/2. Probably because it's dead
    since two decades :)"
    ---------- 8< ----------

I'm not quite sure why he put the smilies in there <shrug> ??

Needless to say, it would be a complete waste of time to even attempt to compile the source under OS/2 and/or ArcaOS :((((

But hey, many thanks indeed for your kind offer to give it a go :)

    Regards,
    Martin

No, I didn't know that but it's a VERY long time since I ran a BBS. The
last BBS software I ran was ProBoard back in the mid 90's. The first BBS sofware I ever tried was QuickBBS(or maybe it was QBBS?) on the Atari-ST, WOW, remember that! :))

I am also a member of the MBSE BBS Development Team.

    Oh, how very interesting :)

There's a known connectivity issue between OpenXP and MBSE which has never been resolved. Unfortunately, I don't remember the exact details now but someone else in here may have a better memory than I ..... cue August :-)

    Excellent!

Thanks to you and Gunter (I hope that's right) for all of your efforts.

Thank you for your kind words and I'd like to take this opportunity to
extend a BIG thank you to August for what he's contributed towards the development of OpenXP over the last 18 months. In fact, it's highly
unlikely that some of the bugs he's found would *ever* have been found without him. And then there's the ideas, new feature requests etc. etc.

Thank you August, you're a Star!

Is that still an issue today? I have MBSE facing all the networks I carry here and have a point running OpenXP in one of the nets.

If there are any issues I'd be happy to work toward a solution.

I have noticed issues with HotdogEd and Aftershock (not critical issues) but I don't know if it's a problem others have encountered or if it's a problem with MBSE. If others are having issues I'd be happy to have a look and report
anything I find with the MBSE team.
