• Zone 32

From Alan Ianson@1:153/757 to All on Tue May 29 04:18:05 2018
    Hello All,

I am helping a fellow sysop establish a new network and am in need of a free zone number to use.

I have it setup now (minimaly) using zone 32.

Does anyone know if zone 32 is in use by an existing network?

If you know that Z32 is in use.. please let me know before I get too far along and need to change it later.

    Hi Alan!

    29 May 2018 04:18, from Alan Ianson -> All:

Does anyone know if zone 32 is in use by an existing network?

In an extremely ancient document I have

    32 EmergencyNet
    32 SIGNet
    32 USCATCOM

In a very ancient document I have only EmergencyNet.
As I have not seen that active, I would say 32 should be OK.

Thanks for the info. That's what I am thinking (hoping). I'll sit on it for a time just in case.. :)

AI... I polled every fidonet node yesterday building a more complex database than the nodelist - 32:1/15@gamenet - check with 1:300/5 or 21:4/104 about it, or 1:153/757 aka 21:4/106.

Richard, you ancient document - is it online? I am trying to build a current index of all networks, and where to get their infopak etc.

    Regards,

GameNet is a brand new QWK and FTN network that is using zone 32. It is my hope that no other networks are using Z32. Currently 6 QWK and 6 FTN nodes.

I'll be posting an advert in this area soon. The infopack is available at..

    ftp://gamenet.synchronetbbs.org/gamenet.zip

There is a gamenet.na for FTN nodes to import the areas but no other FTN info in the ATM. I'm going to fix that soon before I post an advert.

It is up and running now, all I really need from FTN nodes is a netmail telling me their connect info and what password to use for session and areafix. I'll make that all clear in an ftn_info.txt, maybe this weekend and add it to the gamenet.zip.

I'm not sure about the document Richard was looking at but NuSkooler has a google doc at https:/goo.gl/T6dC7F that folks can look at for network info. If you have new / better info he has also asked folks to edit that file with it.

Those are my node numbers in each network... I was the victim of Comcast's outage so when you tried my system the net was down or acting funky.
... the 21:4/104 isnt me though, I am 21:4/107 for that network

    You should have netmail.

That outage really hurt my Cafe business - we do $600 in online orders every day... we only did just over $400... of course, do I get compensated?

Depends on your contract with your ISP.
If you have a business service with guaranteed SLAs (Service Level Agreement) then yes, they need to pay you penalties if they violate the SLA.

So just read your contract to know what their obligations are.
