What is the point to join and promote some other FTN networks while the vanilla Fidonet FTN network is in almost dead state since mid-90th?

Because not all FTN networks are dead. I have been running The Micronet Information Network, or Micronet for short, since 1 September 2001 and the network has constantly been growing and remaining active since then.

So, I dropped sort of the same question in our R50 area. The answers were like since we have limited resources here, so why bother for other nets while we still should focus on keeping the Fidonet great again.

In numbers please, like total active nodes, people, daily number of messages?

Fidonet "is" great given that you are still able to trade silly banter in
2021 because some people take an interest in keeping the old dog alive.

Just as some people run Othernets because they want something other than Fidonet. Some Othernets have very good traffic both in quality and quantity.

Some people just want obscure bizarre Usenet fetish-porn in PKT format.

    Isn't freedom of choice wonderful?

Child pornography has killed Usenet. Well, there are news servers out there but without big ISPs support it is nothing. Fidonet outlived Usenet just because it is purely enthusiast network from the beginning.

Happy for those who enjoys small private nets.

If you want more information about Micronet, find a BBS that participates in the network and find your own information.

I'm finished with this conversation in here. You can netmail me if you wish to discuss things further since this conversation is off-topic in this echo.
