• How's the weather?

    Hope everyone's well.

The weather here over wellington looks like it's ready to take a turn for the worse.

I knew I should have got some washing out over the last couple of days.
Just when you think the weather is getting better, and it might just hold
out, so you spend those nice days indoors playing with your computers. Always the way, isn't it? ;)

Last few days I've spent messing around with different BBS packages and
seeing what's what. Then ended up running a copy of Mystic BBS on Windows so that I could try out some door games.

And yesterday I found an archive at http://cd.textfiles.com/ftp.wwiv.com/pub which is an old wwiv ftp site archived. And it has a *lot* of old BBS
software, utils, door games, and more archived there. So that'll keep me entertained through weeks of rough weather too. :)

Well tonight in Dunedin we've had a mag 4.0 earthquake about 30km west of our house. Lots of people felt it locally although I'm not really sure how big a deal it is to folks further north.

I've been down here for over 10 years and I can only recall about 2-3 times feeling any quakes so my my perspective it's been significant.

Oh and the weathers been hot then cold then hot... it's nutty

I'd like to do more but there are others that have 'to list' lists for me :-)

Welcome to my world. Falcons Elite seems to be the least favoured game I have come across but Trade Wars is one I would like to have a bash. LORD is addictive.

Yep been looking at that site for info on old echoareas as the current echolists don't always carry some of the old fido folklore.

Tonight I'm playing around with Allfix and still wondering if I have netmail routing set up for the HUB correctly but hey it's all fun in the end - all be it a tad frustrating at times to suss, but that's the challenge of it :-)

I haven't checked any news today, so haven't seen if it's had an impact. I guess here in Wellington, we have little ones so often, that we're just used
to it. Mind you, we expect them, and that's why we don't have many brick
houses up here. So can't say I understand what you're going through, but hope it's just minor.

Oh and the weathers been hot then cold then hot... it's nutty

Our dark clouds turned into bright white fluffy clouds. So far, the weather's held out.

Welcome to my world. Falcons Elite seems to be the least favoured game I have come across but Trade Wars is one I would like to have a bash. LORD is addictive.

I want to try TW as well. Set it up on my test rig, just running it locally
to check it out, and figured it's going to take some reading first. I was flying around from system to system, and none had planets. Was told I could fire some bomb that would create a planet, but I didn't have any of them. :)

So I just went system to system, typing in random numbers.

Falcon's Eye I played a loooong time ago, and if I remember rightly, I was playing BRE first, and then switched to FE when that came out. Had a bit of a play on BRE on the test rig and it's easier than I remember, so there's hope for me. haha

If I recall, FE was exactly the same, but fantasy instead of sci-fi. Any
ideas why nobody is playing FE? Is it a different game and nobody likes it,
or is it the same as BRE, and everyone is playing BRE? :)

Yep been looking at that site for info on old echoareas as the current echolists don't always carry some of the old fido folklore.

I just went and uploaded a few thousand files to my BBS, and been collecting from a few other archives and collating them together. Got a few more directories that I'm going to sort and upload over the weekend, but it's got
me wondering if Mystic has a short file display format where it's just the filename and the first line of the description so there is one entry per
line. If not, I might see if I can put together an MPL script or something.

Tonight I'm playing around with Allfix and still wondering if I have netmail routing set up for the HUB correctly but hey it's all fun in the end - all be it a tad frustrating at times to suss, but that's the challenge of it :-)

    Good luck. I always rate things in number of controllers it costs me. eg;
game controllers for consoles, or mice/keyboards for computers. If it gets so frustrating that I smash a controller, then it's time to stop and look at pictures of lolcats on the intertubes. :)
