On 09/27/14, Spiro Harvey pondered and said...
The reasoning behind my current node number is that 771 used to be the Wellington net back in the day.
Aha, yep can understand that reasoning. These days we've taken Net 770 and
made it South Island and Net 772 and made it North Island, so simplified
things down a lot.
I'm not sure what would be involved in changing my node number, or what issues I should expect if I do.
It's straight forward. We would both advise Scott (your current uplink) of
the desire to change. I would send him a revised nodelist segment update refelecting your new address and he would in turn hatch that out to Fidonet.
You would need to ammend your address in Mystic and BinkD as would I. You
would also want to delink the feed of echoareas from your current uplink and
in turn just Areafix them 'on' from me instead.
You can do all of the latter whenever you want as I can make the changes here within 10 mins of reading your netmail etc. The update of address to all of Fidonet would take a little longer given the nodelist is hatched out every 2 weeks. But for Z3 Scott and I would update things quicker than that I'm sure.
I am can also offer all any of the file echos you currently obtain from Scott.
Cheers ears..
