So it must be a problem with the DNS server of my provider.

Unfortunately the modem/router from my provider does not have the option of configuring alternative DNS servers. :(

Anyway, it does not seem to be a problem of R50 being cut off from the InterNet. :)

You can set in your windows directly.

And you can also test it with nslookup:

nslookup fido.gremlin.ru

I know.

But now that the source of de problem was located, I saw no need for further action. This kind of problem usually solves itself fairly quickly. And indeed it did. The problem is gone.
