• Using Mystic as a mail system only

From Andy Gorman@1:129/305 to All on Thu Nov 4 21:59:27 2021
    Hi all

I love using Mystic but have a soft spot in my heart for Renegade so I'm going to switch over to that as my BBS software. However, I would love to continue to use Mystic as my mail system for the nets I'm in. It looks like it will work great except for Netmail, as far as I can see. Renegade uses "private mail" for all netmail (no matter the net). Does anyone have any thoughts on how to handle this?

    Thanks!

Renegade uses a proprietary format for storing messages and uses a utility to manipulate the scanning/tossing of mail in *.MSG format. I do not believe Mystic supports *.MSG.

Correct, Mystic doesn't toss in MSG format so if that is all ReneMail can handle then it probably wouldn't work without some extra layer of software.

FidoNet uses PKT bundles and that is what Mystic tosses.

Mystic does do directory tossing though, so it can be a hub for any number of other BBS software without requiring a mailer to run for any of them, but those softwares still need to be able to support FidoNet (ie PKT files) which Renegade doesn't.

Correct. He replied in the DBridge echo and appears to have his Cowbell working properly.
