My phone carrier (Koodo) recently had a promotion that had my same plan ($55 /mo for unlimited Canada Wide minutes and 10GB of data) on sale for $50 /mo, a savings of $5 /mo or $60 /year.
Early black friday deals rolls around and they've sweetened the pot by making that same plan now 12GB /mo.
I was able to switch to the black friday deal and now I have more data for less money per month! :)

Usually those types of deals apply to [*]new customers only.
Were you able to do the switch your self, online? Or.. did you
need to involve a person at Koodo?
I remember the television advertisements for Koodo. Didn't know they
were still around.
Their site states:
"Save $50 connection fee when you shop online"
But then, they state on the same page:
"$0 connection fee when you order online!"

Just a different way of saying:
Activate in-store or over the phone and pay a $50 activation/connection fee. Do it yourself online and save $50.
I've never understood the concept of an activation fee.
It just discourages people from signing up. Want the
privileged of being our customer and paying us a monthly
bill? That'll be $50.
But BOTH lines say "online".
$50 = "shop online"
$0 = "order online"
Where do you get "instore" from that?

Says:
- Save $50 connection fee when you shop online
- $50 connection fee applies when purchased in store
- $0 connection fee when you order online!
I just went to the Koodo site myself and see the same three strings: https://ibb.co/ynfmtrT
Keep in mind Koodo has "Shock-Free data" which means they'll automatically turn off your data at the end of your allotment, it's not unlimited at reduced speeds like some of the other companies offer.

I thought all the providers provided throttle-down unlimited.
Getting cut off would seem to be the antithesis of "shock-free
data" to me. That is, suddenly having no data would be a shock!
For me $40/mo is enough for this overpriced thing. Jumping
onto the Koodo deal would mean $120 MORE per year - no thanks.

I have unlimited and love it. No worries about data limits.

What company are you with, and how much are you paying? You're
not getting any throttling down at all after a certain data
usage limit?
