I always wondered about running unleaded gasoline in a pre-1974 engine.

Never had any problems with it myself. I've read that the biggest worry with older cars is that the ethanol in it now is quite corrosive but that you can use one of the fuel additives. Don't know how true that is.

One of my dreams was to buy an old 1970s or earlier car - want a car
with a carburetor, points, and simple electrics that I could work on.
Want a car with chrome, leather and wood and minimal plastic.

That's one of the things I enjoyed. I am far from being any sort of mechanic but I could actually work on my cars.

On Wheeler Dealers, they mentioned that the lead in the gas helps cushion
the valve seats and if they had the head open on the engine, would replace
the valves with a more unleaded-friendly valve.

There was a Unocal station in Redwood City, CA, near the border to Woodside, an expensive suburb in the San Francisco bay area. They had one pump that pumped 105 octane racing fuel, and it would be fun to see the Lamborghini, Cobra, Vector, Ferrari and even a Konigsegg or Mclaren filling up.

    ... Overtly resist change
