Unless it is something of great importance most meetings (of any
kind) shouldn't be more than 90 minutes.
    That's generally true...

I have been a member over the years of all sorts of groups and organisations and several of them after 90 minutes the meetings were
    just starting...

I've been fortunate enough not to have had to be in meetings quite that disorganized... generally they'd be properly underway within 10 minutes
    or so...

Then there were groups where the same things were talked to death,
then dug up and talked about some more, but nothing was ever really
done. And the leaders wondered why few people attended.

Probably the attendees were the usual diggers.... <G> One committee

Come to think of it, that would replace various types of
torture around the world. Someone they would be forced to attend
endless meetings. Eventually they would crack and tell everything
they know in exchange for no more meetings... :)

Especially if those were the sort of meetings you've had to endure...

    Joe,

I think meetings should start within a few minutes of the scheduled time
unless someone is running late and waiting on them.

Years ago, at my late wife's church, an offshoot of "The Worldwide
Church Of God", they were known as "The Community Church Of God", they
had to have a business meeting beforehand (they didn't have Sunday
School, per se). And, like it or not, sacred or secular organizations
have to conduct meetings at one time or another.

Anyway, as is usually the case, the meeting ran overtime, so the
church service started rather late. The gentleman leading the music (he
was my best man at my wedding) said "Since we started so late, I'm sure
our preacher will be considerate, and cut his sermon short". Without
batting an eye, the preacher said "Fat Chance!!" -- it brought the house
down in laughter!! The look on the music directors face was priceless!!
<BG> I mentioned that at his funeral (he died of cancer 5 months after
my wife died 13 years ago), and his widow came up afterwards, and
thanked me for that wonderful memory. :)

Finally he was asked "What would you do?" which shut him up. He had no idea, JM>just that something needed to be done.

I guess he felt he needed to ramble.

I am happy my three years are up on Tuesday. Thank goodness for term

I think after you reach a certain age on jury duty (at least it's that
way here), you're exempt from further service.

Just like how you ascended to the top...graft, corruption, etc. (your
    own words). <G>

I think meetings should start within a few minutes of the scheduled

That's generally the reason for the later starts.... together with it
being a somewhat informal group to begin with... :)

With that much attention put to it, you'd think that he might have come
up with some sort of an idea.... ;)

There you go... :) Congratulations on being off the board...
