A little harder to bike over there, eh...? ;)

I think the bike makers have done something to the bikes. I recall
years ago I would think nothing* of going on 20 mile bike ride. Now its
    a different story.

    of it either").

Yeah... that sort of place, you just need to know how to tell if
something is any good... and what the going price for the identical
    item is elsewhere

One has to be a careful shopper.
I find online shopping really great since I can compare prices at
different places and have a general idea if the price is worth it.
I once temped at a large regional discount store.
One time a guy was asked to leave who was writing down prices of
certain items he was comparing prices with to other places. That wasn't allowed. You could have a list of prices but not write down theirs.
This place is long gone now.
I do most all my grocery shopping at Aldi's. I'll be in another
grocery store to pick up an item or two Aldi's doesn't sell and look at
the items on the shelf thinking, "Aldi's has that for such an amount less".

They probably lost more than they gained by that policy.... :)

One can get that way with a store one shops at regularly... :)
