• Installing MBSE?

From Jeff Smith@1:282/1031 to Vince on Sat Oct 13 15:25:40 2018
    Hello There,

I am attempting to install MBSE on a Linux Mint PC. The user mbse already exists on the PC as does the /home/mbse directory. When running "sudo bash SETUP.sh" I get the following:

"Press ENTER to start the basic checks
*** User 'mbse' already exists on this system ***
    *** SETUP aborted ***"

It is easier to previously create the user and then install MBSE but the MBSE installer aborts if it sees a preexisting user/home directory. Is there an option to force MBSE to install to the existing home directory?

There currently is not an option for this. It is theoretically possible to modify SETUP.sh to do this, but it is not recommended. SETUP.sh is designed to create the MBSE users (mbse & bbs) with the appropriate permissions and group memberships that allow them to perform their respective functions without issues.

I have had to do similar more than once due to having multi partitions/distros all pointing to
    one install areas/home/mbse

So, I copy the SETUP.sh to STUP2.sh (yes I know original). Then hack that removing segments not
needed but mostly creating home directories and/or mbse user accounts including bbs if already
    set up.

Then run it and yes I double check the script before running and even then sometime have to
    mod the mod and rerun..

I'm currently setting up MBSE as a future replacement for my current BBS software. When testing and preparing the new system, I ran into the same problem. And sicne I did not have any content in the system at that time, I went around that issue by simply deleting the user with userdel -r (actually,
deleted both, the mbse user as well as the bbs group).

However, If you already have custom menus, screens and content in your system you should (of course) *not* delete the existing user.
