From Nick Mackechnie@3:772/210 to All on Tue Jun 5 09:22:00 2018
    Hi All,

I need some help ;-) Is anyone using Irex to connect to a NNTP server? I'm using *.msg format. I can successfully get working importing from a NNTP
server into the BBS, and export from the BBS out. However the export out creates a .pkt file and .hlo file and when I run the send receive request in Irex it doesnt process and send. Clearly I'm not doing something 'right'
here, and would really appreciate some help.

export to which side? new posts going back to the news server or redistributing
the new posts via FTN protocol??

However the export out creates a .pkt file and .hlo file and when I

those are BSO... the pkt is normal FTN but the hlo is a BSO FLO file... the 'h'
    signals "Hold"...

run the send receive request in Irex it doesnt process and send.

who is that PKT destined to? it can't send what is on Hold...

Clearly I'm not doing something 'right' here, and would really

    maybe the above will trigger?

You mail processor needs to export to PKT format instead so that Internet Rex can send the mail.

Thanks - And where do you set what the outbound directory is that irex will look at for sending nntp?

Nick, if you're after a gated feed for Usenet in PKT format I can help. I run
a gateway that interfaces with news.bbs.nz

Feel free to drop me a netmail if you want this.

    Best, Paul

Thanks mate - already using a newsgate, and working well. Just saw that the functionality was also available in irex, and couldn't manage to get it
working as expected. Must be missing something, just not sure what the 'something is' :-)

That is the same directory as your mail processor's outbound pkt and arcmail directory usually. Plus IREX only reads .PKT files for outbound NNTP.
