    Dear All,

    What's the profit for he.net to operate the tunnel broker? Is this a charity?

    I'm grateful to them for this opportunity and for the /48, but don't quite understand their motives.

    They even have a IPv6 certification for free, where you can get a T-shirt for free :)

    I think SIXXS and HE both did it to promote IPv6, which helps people in general, and probably HE in the long run.

    At some point (which should have been 10-20 years ago) we should have
    moved over to IPv6 by default, but the general in-availability of
    customers and demand made ISPs drag their feet, and this in turn delayed
    it even further.

    In order to break such a vicious circle, someone has to act outside of shortsighted gain, and HE did, which is nice.

    As a side effect, they probably get to test IPv6 deployment code and strategies, they get a real-world place to test v6 compliance of
    hardware to be deployed elsewhere in their net and their operators get
    to practice on large-scale deployments where the customers aren't paying
    so they can make invasive changes if need be.

    It will be hard to estimate the amount of network savvy people today
    that associate HE with IPv6. Good for getting future customers or for recruitment purposes.

    I was aware that US sizes are bigger than EU sizes. So I ordered "small". That fitted perfectly.. ;-)

    It is not much better here. I have worn the T-shirt in public on many occasions. In the supermarket, on HAM festst, etc. Zero comments. The only ones to even notice were Kees van Eeten and Wilfred van Velzen when I met them on a meeting of a computer club. But they had advance knowledge...

    BTW, HE managed to have the T-shirt delivered on my birthday. Very nice gesture.

    So I am not unhappy to advertise for them. ;-)

    The 407 was a typo. I too had a 2001:470:: address for my tunnel. My experience is that yje delete tunnels that are no longer kept alive. When I goy native IPv6 I could not kee[ the tunnel because the router from my provider does not support tunnels.

    Just created a tunnel to stockholm:

    === Cut ===
    Routed IPv6 Prefixes
    Routed /64:2001:470:28:376::/64
    Routed /48:2001:470:dfeb::/48
    === Cut ===

    So it may depend which endpoint to use...

    I still have one operational tunnel which I created "Nov 14, 2014".. Both /64 and /48. :)
