    GoldED is designed to be a very powerful sysop editor. If you want to
    downgrade it to user level, you may have lots of work to do. :)

    seems to me there would be *no* hard coded keys and all of them would be read from the goldkey file but...

    Golded works with very minimum config, only few lines. So there must be some defaults.

    There are hard-coded keys. It's explained in the documentation and the
    source code. The only way that you're going to disable a function like shelling out will be to comment out the code for that in the source and recompile.

    Besides, if you're wanting to use GoldEd as a user editor, perhaps a door
    like The Reader (looks, acts, feels like GoldEd) would be a better choice.
