    Hello Daryl!

Do you still have that one involving the Honda Accord, the Fury and one other?
If you do, I'd appreciate your posting it again because the daily purge took place before I could save it.

    Regards,

I should. Let me make a note of the file, and I'll use Synchronet's
Autopost to put it in here.

Unlike MultiMail (which lets me import stuff more easily, along with
longer taglines), OLX doesn't let me do that. However, for whatever
reason in my setup, MM crashes each time I try to run it.

    Roger,

    Thanks.

The post should've made it there now. I have it set to recycle the
posts once a month (I don't consider messages over a month old to be
timely anymore). The Today In History ones (including the bloopers)
    recycle once a year.

    Daryl,
I don't think that the posts being timely is an issue. I can understand
the logic there. However, for those of us that keep up with the echo, a
month is recent enough that we still remember it from when we read it a
    month ago. :)

    Roger,

    Not yet, but thanks.

I quit posting in there. A user complained about my recycled posts,
that "old jokes aren't funny". Except for them, there was nothing else
    in the echo.

If he or anyone else doesn't care for my posts, they can either
unjoin the echo, or have their BBS software filter out my posts, so no
one will see them. I'll go to networks and message areas where I'm
    welcome.

Another user asked me why I didn't post the stuff in the FIDONet ham
radio echo, and I told him for the same reason...I got chewed out by
users and moderators. I think the original moderator is dead now,
though...and from what I heard through the grapevine over the years,
many people had a lot of trouble with him.

right but seeing the same ones every 30 days makes it no better than the BBS advertising echos...

it isn't about that... or being timely... it is simply about redundant posts with duplicate message bodies... maybe if it was recycled yearly, it wouldn't be quite so bad but you have to look that there are a lot of systems that retain all messages no matter how old they are (living archives)... then there are some that keep three years worth (three years is the limit on MSGID recycling)... then you have others that chose some arbitrary number of days they consider to be timely...

yes, roy witt is no longer with us... you can post in whatever echos you like... TBH, i've not seen you "get chewed out" in any area... someone may make
a comment here or there but it isn't a "chewing out"... kinda like when i was letting you know about your software creating duplicate MSGIDs within the three
year period allowed... i wasn't "chewing you out"... i was letting you know of a problem... it didn't mean any more than that...

I only stopped posting in FIDONEWS because of its moderator/toastmaster/USA-basher. He won't ever stop, either. The only time you will see me post there is to check on Bob Ackley, whom I like very much.

    Mark,

right but seeing the same ones every 30 days makes it no better than the BBS ML>advertising echos...

But, at least it's not the same one every single day. In some of these
BBS ad echoes, I see a message for a BBS several times a day...and yet,
that's even after the moderator posts a "rule bulletin" noting that "no
more than 2 postings a week".

it isn't about that... or being timely... it is simply about redundant posts ML>with duplicate message bodies... maybe if it was recycled yearly, it wouldn' ML>be quite so bad but you have to look that there are a lot of systems that ML>retain all messages no matter how old they are (living archives)... then the ML>are some that keep three years worth (three years is the limit on MSGID ML>recycling)... then you have others that chose some arbitrary number of days ML>they consider to be timely...

If they are so picky about that, let them turn on the duplicate
    message deal in their settings.

Well, I think I've got everything fixed in tossing now. But, the only
area where stuff recycles every 30 days is on a local board...and I
reduced my BBS ad postings to ONCE A WEEK.

    Roger,

So, no original postings of their own? Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Even though mine were "re-posts", they made NONE of their own...except
to complain about my "re-posts". So, when I stopped posting, they did as well...but I'm sure they'll find something to complain about. Sadly,
there are some people on Earth who aren't happy, unless they make
    everyone else's lives miserable.
