    Hello All,

    Just for the record:

The vote of Region 28 included a "no" for marc lewis. Accepting the revised vote of RC33 would have rejected marc lewis an an elected as member. Accepting my objection and dismissing the revised vote of RC33 made merc lewis pass the bar. Against the vote of R28...

Following strict procedure, all in public so that anyone can see there is no hanky panky going on is more important than a personal preference or dislike of a candidate.

    Just for the record...

    Hi Michiel,

What is most disappointing is the few RC's that even bothered to vote, one has to wonder if their systems are on autopilot and they don't even bother to read / reply their netmail that Andrew sent to them.

    Thanks for the update.

    Terry

Exactly more than half, I think, did not vote. Not just Andrew's netmails, also mine in Z2 plus sysop-echoes here did not generate a single reaction in over a month from several individuals.

In the nomination phase, candidates were nominated by an RC who has not got his segment in order. 5 RCs voted with either blatant FTSC-violations in their segment and/or expired domain-names and/or other anomalies ... too much of a job to apply corrections which just take a minute ... including your RC Dan Clough ... who happened to become nominated 'and' elected although he does not correct this entry "INA:bbs, thefbobbs.us", which has been pointed-out several times ... plus 2 nodes with these expired domains "graymatterbbs.com" and "frodossl.com" ... Do something for Fidonet Dan, talk to your RC ... the one who got elected into the FTSC, to deal with these historical errors in his segment.

Sorry, Terry, I got carried away...

I understand the frustration, it is difficult to complain about the state of NC's when there are RC's who can't be bothered but want to wear the RC hat.

In the old days, the 90-ies let's sqy, it was possible for a ZC/RC to deal with a lower-level *C by simply getting someone else. Those days are gone and for various positions we have to be happy there is still someone available. You will notice that some RCs are also becoming NC because no-one else is willing-available-capable.

With unique netnumbers it becomes possible to just merge regions as successfully was done by merging R20 Sweden, R21 Norway, R22 Finland and R23 Denmark into one region...

NZ is a classic case where the RC is also NC of 2 nets. I have no issue with
it as the nets are for the two islands plus some sysops don't want to change their node address.

How did that go down? Much bitching and moaning?

Not at all ... it went very smooth and they handled it themselves.

At the time R21 was a single-node region, R23 somewhat the same depending on how you consider Gerd K. Andersen.

Yeah, I was going to let the tone of the original comment slide.

We're all volunteers in an ever-shrinking environment. Most anyone in a
*C role here generally older, may have family, and is certainly employed
in some manner to be able to devote the time and energy into this hobby.

If one of my downlinks or my ZC feels that the job I'm doing isn't
acceptable, we can either provide *constructive* feedback, or find
someone else to do the job. The candidate pool is small to non-existent, however.
