setting up Fidonet netmail. Im a bit confused between the way I used
to do it and the way SBBS wants to do it. Im used to using Goled and having Golded create a flag to get HPT to toss/pack it out. But with SBBSECHO , regardless of whether I author a netmail in SBBS in the
netmail area configured in SBBS or in Golded. SBBSECHO fails to see
the netmail let alone toss and pack it out. Im using BinkD as a
mailer. I am sure I am missing something simple.

I am pretty sure Synch uses a propriatary message base so I'm not sure HPT can handle the tossing/packing part. I don't run a FLO mailer here so which directory the netmail goes I'm unsure of. If you're using GoldEd to create a netmail then I can't see why Ssbbsecho even has to touch it. If I am in a hurry I use FD's editor to create netmail. Being I'm using *.MSG it gets saved directly to my netmail folder where a SEM is created to tell my mailer and off it goes.

Further, when I try to enter a netmail message in SBBS it asks to enter
    a nodes address as
n:nnn/nnn@fidonet. Which is ok. But if I were wanting to lets say send
    an areafix netmail
message using SBBS. There doesn't seem to be an option to address it correctly. As in:

    From: Jeff Smith 1:282/1031

    To: Areafix 1:nnn/nnnn

    Subject: <Password>

Within Synch's editor or any 3rd party editor while logged in, on the To: line, address it as such: areafix@1:nnn/nnnn

Sorry I couldn't help you much past that...

    Good luck.

Neither have I. <grin> It should have read v3.15.

SBBS has a separate directory for netmail. But that directory isn't in
the msgs.cnf file for golded to read. I can setup a netmail directory separate from SBBS but of course SBBSECHO has no way of knowing. If I setup a netmail message area in SBBS and create a netmail message. SBBS seems to look at it as another echomail area. There doesn't seem to be
a way to configure a message area in SBBS as netmail and tossed as
such. I'm sure I am missing something here.

In the Config, under Networks/Fidonet Echo and Netmail there is a spot to tell it where your netmail folder is along with inbound folder. You don't need to configure a specific sub for netmail. Echomail is the only configurable sub.

Tried that. Didn't work. In fact the text of the areafix message showed
up in the webserver log window in the SBBS control panel.Ag

Again, it sounds like you setup a sub for netmail when one isn't needed. At the main menu choose "E" then "N" and SBBSecho will send it to the folder you set as I explained above.

Sorry I couldn't help you much past that...

Thanks anyway. Always willing to look at a situation from a different angle.

    Enjoy!!

Let me clear up a misunderstanding that I had. I was trying to create
an netmail message using the SBBS's web interface. <Feeling foolish> I hadn't logged in locally or via telnet to try to enter a netmail. An option to enter a netmail message doesn't seem to be available via the
web interface. An "netmail" message area (Sub) was only available IF I created a sub named netmail. Which has been pointed out was not the correct procedure. Once I logged in via telnet I was able to create a netmail message and SBBSECHO promptly scan-n-packed it out. Which BinkD promptly sent out.

FYI, I just looged onto my web interface and there is a option for e-mail in the left column. Click that it shows received email. Above that there is a button for New Email. Remember, you can send either fowarded netmail (name@x:xxx/xxx) or email (name@whatever.com) from that screen. If you want to create an areafix type in the to:

The fact remains you still need to tell Synch where your netmail folder is and I explained above. Synch will put it in that folder and generate a semaphore for your mailer. Synch is smart but not that smart as to take a guess where the netmail goes.

    Good luck...

Sorry for sounding a tad dense on how SBBS was doing things.
