    What's interesting is that even the quoted "raw" version of the message shows the image when it arrives back in Telegram.

    That's what I did in my first test. I wanted to see if the text
    (which ends up as the caption) would be requoted when there is
    reply. But it does not.

    Text as a standard message gets quoted, but not the text-as-a-caption. At least it did not seem to work for my test.

    Take another look at the message you sent me. You've literally quoted back to me my text-as-a-caption

    That's because I replied to you from the Fido-side. ;)

    But a reply to a captioned message on the TG-side (ie using TG) will not show the quoted text when it arrives on the Fido-side.
