In that case, since Telegram announces when someone has
Joined (and everyone sees that), why not send a private
"warning" message to that person?
I repeat again. The bot will not be able to privately, and
sending manually every time is too difficult.
I just thought that if Telegram generates the USERID #, then
your bot can easily construct a "reply" to the holder of that
USERID.
In anycase, I suppose most people would rather appreciate the
option to lurk silently in the background. If they suddenly got
automated messages indicating that their "silent" presence is
detected, then that could tick them off.
I suppose a better thing might be is to have a "channel" for the fidonet.telegram project and broadcast some member stats and
activity data in there.

I'm not sure if I understand correctly what you are
suggesting.

Anyway.. a channel to broadcast updates/changes/news to the Fidonet-Telegram project for folks residing on the Telegram side
could be useful.
But, since we have the FIDONET.TELEGRAM echo now, that might be
good enough.
In general, they are not very different from the groups
technically.

Also, it seems to me that it is even better because the new
member immediately falls into Fido.
I was thinking of one to use primarily as a public (searchable
.vs. private) so that people looking for "fidonet" might find
info on your doorway into the fidonet echos.
As I said, I started one for that purpose before I had that
Telegram hiccup just before December.
