• a quote test

From August Abolins@2:460/58 to All on Mon Feb 1 22:22:41 2021

xx] feel free to ignore.. i just want to see what the bot does in the tele2fido direction when i create different quote prefixes.

xx} in a previous message i noticed that the bot re-quoted a whole paragraph when it started with "xx> " for example.

this time I want to see what t will do when I use "xx] " and "xx} ". hopefully there will be options. or not. this is just a test anyway.

    Nothing.
He does not yet know how to distinguish the quoted text from the usual one.

A whole paragraph will be re-quoted anyway.

I realized a long time ago that quoting needs to be rewritten. ;)

    Have nice nights.

Nothing. He does not yet know how to distinguish the quoted
    text from the usual one.

The reason for my experiment was because I noticed that my
single quote test (with just one "XX> " at the beginning of a
paragraph) turned into something else when I viewed the message
    on another bbs.

    [2] as received by OpenXP:

[3] as viewed at a Syncronet bbs:

    URL: https://susepaste.org/26997121

Note that the last paragraph has been modified and turned into
two separate lines with "xx> " in front of them. That is NOT how
    the original message was written.

I realized a long time ago that quoting needs to be rewritten. ;)

It seems to behave quite well, actually. But it appears that
Syncronet is changing the message when it sees quotes.

Most do this in accordance with how they think the quota should look.

I was under the impression that the BODY of a message (except
for adding a tearline or an origin line) was not to be altered.

But in my example, the Synchronet site was taking liberty to
assume something and change the last paragraph. If that message
STAYS on that bbs in that modified way, then maybe that is fine.
But I have to do further testing to see if other messages routed
through that bbs go out modified.

    Here is one more test:

This paragraph only has "aa> " at the start of the line and
the rest of the rest of the text is just rambling on so as to
commodo consequat. Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in
voluptate velit esse cillum dolore eu fugiat nulla pariatur.

If the above paragraph is modified with multiple "aa> " at the
start of each line, then something is afoot.
