    I don't know how to fix this error or what it is due to. I am not a programmer and I do not understand the code in the stat.c. Any help will be greatly appreciated :)

    I see this sometimes when using different versions in windows.

    Deleting that one helps:

    There is a binary file usually named hpt.sta accumulating statistics on links and echo traffic. The statistics may be parsed by hpt/misc/adv-stat-hpt.pl or some other software. You may find the full path to the file in AdvStatisticsFile parameter in your fidoconfig. Since the database in the file is broken as we see from the error message, just delete the file and the new file will be created. If you don't use it for publishing statistics, you may comment out the line with AdvStatisticsFile.
