• Belgian Coffee

    Hello Everybody,

"Have some coffee and chill out."
    ~ Dan Clough

I had a cousin who had married a gal from Belgium.
He loved it there, and spent decades passing his time
with his favorite person. And being from Louisiana,
the only thing better was drinking coffee. In Belgium,
he had the best of both worlds. But what is so special
about Belgian coffee? How can Belgian coffee be any
better than what Cajuns drink at Caf‚ du Monde?

I found a site online that kind of explains what the
experience is like in Belgium. Perhaps Ward D. can fill
in the details, and if Belgians add chicory as part of
    their brew.

As for Swedish coffee, I am not sure anybody wants to know.
But Sweden does have some very good appetizers that go well with
    coffee ...

"Many Swedes take their coffee very seriously, to the point where it is not only a beverage in the country, but a way of life. Although coffee can certainly be enjoyed in the comfort of one's home, alone, coffee is, for the most part, a social interaction. In major cities like the capital of Stockholm, coffee shops, chains, and independent locations alike, can be found in abundance."

    Interesting, but not surprising.

What do all those top-10 countries have in common?

Yep. It's fucking freezing cold there for 9 months of the year.

    Hello Dan,

And you know this how? I mean, absolutely...

    [..]

Here's a question for you: The moron known as "Lee Lofaso" recently DC>quoted me in the FidoNews echo, from a post I made in the FidoNet
Sysop echo. The question is - why are you allowing him access to
that sysop-only echo? Oh, and I know this because his posts come
    from your system.

Dear child, did I misquote anything you said?

Please configure your system properly. If you need help doing that,
    feel free to ask.

Funny that. Everything seems to be working fine from my end.
And nobody else seems to be complaining, either. So what's the
    problem?

If Louisiana was a nation it would be ranked #1 for consumption.
But I will give Belgium credit for being a top re-exporter of coffee.
In the USA, I know of only one state that grows coffee - Hawai'i.
Kind of a light coffee, good for dessert or breakfast. Rich flavor,
not strong. No coffee in Texas really qualifies as coffee ...

What's spoiling these statistics more is the fact that they only refer to the "raw" mass of coffee consumption. Maybe the US rank #1 if it comes to comparing volumes of the drink?
