    Hello Everybody,

    Twitter has permanently suspended President Donald Trump's account.

    Does the moderator of this echo have the same balls to do that?

    Well, first the moderator has to invite him. And with only 12
    days left to his term, likely to be cut short due to impeachment
    and removal from office, that invitation should be issued sooner
    rather than later.

    So how about it, Bjrn? Are you game? I know you have always
    wanted to debate with the big boys. Now's your chance.

    Will you consider making this place Donald J. Trump's new home?
    After all, he will soon become private citizen Donald J. Trump
    and will have lots of free time on his hands. And he loves to use
    his tiny hands to type short messages.

    Just think of what this will mean to Fidonet. All of his base
    logging on, each day, to send and receive messages from their
    dear leader. You could even rename the echo MAGALAND.

    With the King of Fidonet being in charge, of course.

    You may be right. Especially since he has also been permanently
    banned by Instagram and Facebook.

    Has any other world leader ever done that? Hit the trifecta - Twitter/Instagram/Facebook. All in the same week. Maybe the same
    day. And you don't want him? Sure. Send him over. And not just
    him, but all his minions. I am sure you and the rest of the world
    have seen what they did at the Capitol building the other day. Just

    Hello Paul,

    Twitter has permanently suspended President Donald Trump's account.
    Does the moderator of this echo have the same balls to do that?

    Please, I hope s/he doesn't...

    You have to realize he is scrambling to find a new social network
    to play in. Starting to get desperate. Truly desperate.

    Well, first the moderator has to invite him. And with only 12
    days left to his term, likely to be cut short due to impeachment
    and removal from office, that invitation should be issued sooner
    rather than later.

    25th, now.

    I think Vice President Pence's wife is telling him she would much
    prefer to have the President at her side, rather than the President's
    sidekick. I also think Vice President Pence is starting to like the
    idea of being President Pence.

    Impeach if needed...

    I think the Vice President is giving President Trump until Monday
    morning to resign from office. Or maybe he will choose not to wait
    that long. Depending on his wife's mood.

    make sure Trump can never again screw our country -

    I do not believe Mike Pence wants anybody to screw his wife.

    altho I think Trump has already done enough himself,

    Cheating at golf is one thing. One of his (former) aides wrote
    a book about that. But as private citizen, nobody else will care.

    to cull his face from any office in the future...

    For that, the Congress will have to pass a law. But that would not
    be constitutional. Unless he is impeached and removed from office
    first. Otherwise, he could come back to haunt us again. And we would
    all be screwed. Including Pence's wife.

    but there ARE a bunch of idiots in this country, so...

    Yes. But not all of them are useful. That is the problem.

    So how about it, Bjrn? Are you game? I know you have always
    wanted to debate with the big boys. Now's your chance.

    Will you consider making this place Donald J. Trump's new home?
    After all, he will soon become private citizen Donald J. Trump

    No, no, no, nononononononononoonononononononononono!

    You are talking about a madman. A madman in search of a new
    social network. And he has already run out of a lot of options.
    Just look at all the social media platforms he is banned from
    using (so far) -

    * apple
    * discord
    * facebook
    * google
    * instagram
    * pinterest
    * reddit
    * shopify
    * snapchat
    * tiktok
    * twitch
    * twitter
    * youtube

    Adding fidonet to that list would almost amount to being considered
    cruel and unusual punishment. And we all know what elvis said about
    that. Or rather sang -

    "Don't be cruel ... to a heart that's true."

    With the King of Fidonet being in charge, of course.

    I like you, Lee... :P

    Trump is ranting online "I will not resign!" as everybody else is
    watching the NFL playoffs. This is akin to Nixon's famous last words,
    "I am not a crook!" just before he resigned from office in disgrace.

    Fun days ahead.

    Please. Do not let Donald Trump know he can do that.

    Creating a PAC reduces the need for financial disclosure beyond names and addresses. What the PAC does with the funds is a "black hole". Trump's PAC created a $250 million war chest. What he chooses to do with it is up to him.

    Sadly, I am sick of people who insult others. I get stereotyping, but the minute someone goes and calls people "retards", etc., immediately lose the argument in my book.

    No. That is not okay. Yes, there are many Trump supporters who fit the bill but it is not the majority. Many Republicans voted for Trump because he was the name on the ticket and voting for a Democrat would go against their best interests (fiscal responsibility, social dynamics, etc.).

    There are days when I look at Trump's rallies and I laugh. Whether they are out there not wearing masks, bashing people of color, or eating every word that he says up, those are the people I seriously question.

    I wouldn't bet on that. US voters and Republicans might be dumb enough
    to elect an even bigger asshole than Trump.

    The dumber he is, the easier they think it is to control their POTUS.

    Donald J. Trump was bright or clever enough to win his party's
    nomination, and then the general election. And then everybody found
    out he could not be controlled by anybody, or even himself.

    And the more donations (AKA bribes) they can expect from the billionaires and major corporations. A perfectly corrupt society.

    After his latest stunt, most (if not all) of the billionaires and
    major corporations jumped ship, investing their moneys elsewhere.
    The NRA has declared bankruptcy, the numbers of his mob continue
    to dwindle as more arrests are made, some of his billionaire pals
    have keeled over and can no longer contribute to his cause ...

    The original meaning of fascism (as invented in Italy circa 1932) was a society govern by people who listened to the corporations and not the people.

    The Italian Origin of Fascism

    The words fascism and fascist have long been associated with the
    Fascisti of Benito Mussolini and the fasces, the bundle of rods with
    an ax among them, which the Fascisti used as a symbol of the Italian
    people united and obedient to the single authority of the state.
    However, Mussolini did not introduce the word fascista (plural
    fascisti) with the 1919 organization of the Fasci di combattimento
    (“combat groups”), nor did the fasces have any direct connection with
    the origin of fascista. In Italian, the word fascio (plural fasci)
    means literally “bundle,” and figuratively “group.” From at least 1872 fascio was used in the names of labor and agrarian unions, and in
    October 1914 a political coalition was formed called the Fascio
    rivoluzionario d’ azione internazionalista (“revolutionary group for international action”), which advocated Italian participation in World
    War I on the side of the Allies. Members of this group were first
    called fascisti in January 1915. Although Mussolini was closely
    associated with this interventionist movement, it had no direct link
    with the post-war Fasci di combattimento, and in 1919 the word fascista
    was already in political circulation. It is, however, to the Fascisti
    in their 1919 incarnation—who seized power in Italy three years
    later—that we owe the current customary meanings of our words fascism
    and fascist.

    Hello Bjrn,

    All democracies have fascist tendencies. Does that make every
    democracy a fascist state?

    Only those that have gone 100% corporate capitalistic.

    "Fascism should rightly be called Corporation, as it
    is the merger of corporate and government power."
    ~ attributed to Benito Mussolini

    Why do people make up stuff that others have never said?
    Benito Mussolini was a former journalist, and would never
    have misquoted himself, much less others. But hey. Let's
    not quibble about stuff that Il Duce has never said, but
    what he really did say about fascism, in his own words -

    https://www.politicalresearch.org/2005/01/12/mussolini-corporate-state

    By your definition, quoted above, no state has ever gone
    100% corporate capitalistic. Nor is it likely any future
    state will ever achieve that status. So what is fascism?
    And what qualifies a state as being a fascist state?

    The Italian Origin of Fascism

    The words fascism and fascist have long been associated with the
    Fascisti of Benito Mussolini and the fasces, the bundle of rods
    with an ax among them, which the Fascisti used as a symbol of the
    Italian people united and obedient to the single authority of the
    state. However, Mussolini did not introduce the word fascista
    (plural fascisti) with the 1919 organization of the Fasci di
    combattimento ("combat groups"), nor did the fasces have any
    direct connection with the origin of fascista. In Italian, the word
    fascio (plural fasci) means literally "bundle," and
    figuratively "group." From at least 1872 fascio was used in the
    names of labor and agrarian unions, and in October 1914 a political coalition was formed called the Fascio rivoluzionario d'azione internazionalista ("revolutionary group for international
    action"), which advocated Italian participation in World War I on
    the side of the Allies. Members of this group were first called
    fascisti in January 1915. Although Mussolini was closely associated
    with this interventionist movement, it had no direct link with the post-war Fasci di combattimento, and in 1919 the word fascista was
    already in political circulation. It is, however, to the Fascisti
    in their 1919 incarnation, who seized power in Italy three years
    later, that we owe the current customary meanings of our words
    fascism and fascist.

    Thank you, Lee, for this bit of history that I found quite informative. What was the source? Or was it from your own knowledge?

    Best regards,
    Marc

    Merriam-Webster Dictionary. Noted cite at bottom of message.

    Benito Mussolini had his own version, which was unique in and
    of itself. He and FDR complimented each other for how they ran
    their respective economies. Before hostitilies began.
