    Hi, ALL!

That sentence was approximately like this:

"A woman tried to calm down a girl, and she plonked a cakey kiss on her forehead."

Can it be said in some more usual words? ;-) What is "plonking a cakey kiss"?

    Bye, ALL!

Very British slang. Plonked would suggest "heavily or carelessly" (Oxford Dictionary) and cakey is slang for over-sweet in demeanor. So in more conventional English we might say "she sloppily kissed her forehead". But I think the slang version gives more flavour of British working class.
