I want to set-up wccasino on a seperate server (dedicated) as you mentioned you are about to do.

Could you tell me how to accomplish this so I can use my users database from my main winserver site? I'm running wcppp on it and that's where my user database is found.

Just install it on the machine and follow the "Wildcat! Networking"
article in the Knowledge Base in the support web site.

WCSERVER is your server and it controls all databases. Clients such
as WCONLINE, WCCONFIG, WCCASINO can run anywhere on the network
following the guideline in the article. It is pretty simple to
    setup.

Let me know if you get stuck, but do follow the steps in the article.

Okay, I'm still a little confused - wcCasino needs to be installed using clientinstall, so it puts all files in the main wc5 directory, which I think is *.wcn.

Are you saying I can just put these files on the other server, after using clientinstall, provided I set-up the networking side as described in the Knowledge Base?

You are right, wcCASINO requires installing client files for WCNAVIGATOR
which is done by clientinstall in the \WC5\CLIENT directory. It wants
    the WUP file from wcCASINO.

It is the actual server itself can be installed and run from a different machine.

The easiest would be create a Network drive, lets say W:, which gives you access to the W:\WC5 directory. From the other machine, install WCCASINO
to W:\WC5, this way you guarantee WCCASINO will always have access to the latest WCSRV.DLL file and you don't have to copy it to the other machine.

It is ok to put into its own directory, but you will HAVE to remember
to make sure the client DLL files (WCSRV.DLL and possible WCVB.DLL, I
don't remember if it needs this) will need to be copied to the wcCASINO directory every time you do the AUP.

Still can't get this to work.

Winserver is installed on my computer named Mail.
    It's on e:\wc5

I created a network drive on a computer called games on drive g:
    A subdirectory named wc5.
I now have a network drive mapped to games\\g:\wc5

When I try to install wccasino on my computer named mail, I tell it to install on g:\wc5 (which is my mapped network drive), I get an error that says:
"please select your Wildcat 5 directory for installation of wcCasino".

The easiest would be create a Network drive, lets say W:, which gives you access to the W:\WC5 directory. From the other machine, install WCCASINO

What I do is install everything on the server then on the other computers I create a shortcut thru network neighborhood to actually run the programs on
the dedicated computer. Doing it this way allows everything in wc5 on the server to be accessible.

Good tip. If you do a NET USE afterwards, you will see a IPC$ pipe
created. Windows networking is just a layer on top of netbios :-)

I must be pretty dumb, but it seems to me that just creating a short cut to the .exe files doesn't do a whole lot of good. It also seems like the server that the programs are installed on are still providing ALL the resources and the load. ???????

NO. All your doing is sharing the drive. What ever computer executes the
icon is the one who's resources are consumed.
