Hi Everyone,

Anyone have any experience setting up D'Bridge to work with JAM message �areas? An extermal tosser?

I'm quickly running out of the 200 Hudson areas in RemoteAccess. :)

I really don't see a logical need to have it anymore. INTL kludges were an option at one time as well. I removed that question from the setup-screen quite some time ago and permanently generate INTL as every system is 4D/5D addressing. I'm assuming in 1989 that 3D addressing was common.

Tossers that generate Dynamic/Frontdoor or Arcmail attachments should work.

I've never used anything else than *.MSG. even the times when a 20MB HD cost an arm and a leg.

Whenever I've looked at adding a new storage format to D'Bridge I'm presented with the following challenges:

- Tossing and scanning and it must be spot-on perfect especially kludges.
- Message creation and editing from the internal editor
- Copying, forwarding, moving messages from the editor
- Purging old messages either by quantity or date

Not impossible but does require a fair amount of programming and testing. Everything has to be perfect otherwise the Fidonet Police write me a fine.

I cannot use any libraries, units or API's, everything must be from scratch.

They use Scratch (whatever happened to GWBasic, LOGO and Turing?!?) at school so the concepts are not too foreign.

1D = node number only
2D = net/node
3D = zone:net/node *OR* net/node.point
4D = zone:net/node.point *OR* net/node.point@domain
5D = zone:net/node.point@domain

Same here: first computer, a Vic20. Never had a floppy drive for it - typed in BASIC programs from magazines, such as BYTE, and occassionally tried to save to a tape drive - usually unsuccessfully. But it begat a couple of Apple IIs and a Timex Sinclair which eventually begat a PC-XT clone and well.. you know where that story goes.

Other people I knew at the time had the C64, or an Apple 2, or an Amiga... maybe a PC or Tandy. All of them thumbed their noses at the Vic20 as just
a toy but I was sooooo stubbornly loyal to it because it was just fun to make this thing do something with 3k of base memory and a tape drive. Countless hours spent.

When I found out that someone wrote a Doom port; THAT to me is a true loyal grand-master programmer who used that system to create a work of art.

Lots of Demoscene stuff was impressive too... using undocumented interrupts and elaborate calls to the graphics chip.
