27 November 1924 - MACY'S PUTS ON ITS FIRST THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE:
Macy's kicks off what will be a beloved annual tradition. The parade
contains floats, employees dressed as clowns, cowboys, and animals
from the Central Park Zoo. The parade isn't to celebrate Thanksgiving
as much as to put Christmas --- and shopping for presents --- in the
minds of spectators lining the streets.

    Title: Macy's Popovers
    Categories: Breads, Spreads, Snacks
    Yield: 13 servings

    5 lg Eggs
    1 2/3 c Whole milk
    5 tb Unsalted butter; melted
    1 2/3 c A-P flour
    1/2 tS salt

    MMMMM-------------------WHIPPED HONEY BUTTER-------------------------
    1/2 lb Butter
    2 tb Honey

POPOVERS: Set the oven @ 400-|F/205-|C.

Lightly coat popover pans or deep muffin tins with
nonstick spray and heat the pans in the oven for at
    least 15 minutes.

Crack the eggs into a bowl and beat using an electric
mixer until frothy. Add the milk and butter and mix
well. Add the flour and salt and mix just to combine.

Divide the batter among the preheated pans, filling each
    cup just under half full.

Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, until puffy and well browned.
Remove from the pan and serve warm. The finished
popovers should pull away from the pan easily and feel
    light to the touch.

HONEY BUTTER: In a bowl, whip butter and honey using an
electric mixer until light and fluffy.

    Makes 12 to 14.

... No rules! So long as your stew is stew-like you're OK.
