    Strongbow cider:

Strongbow is a dry cider produced by H. P. Bulmer in England.
Bulmer's is now a subsidiary of Heineken but it is still made in
England. It is distributed in Canada by Molsons.

It is 5.3% ABV in Canada, but just 4.5% in the USA and the original
dry (gold) version that I purchased is not available in the States
    at all.

It is much superior to domestic Growers cider: dark gold in colour,
stronger tasting even though it's lower in alcohol (Growers is 6%),
less sweet with a subtle hint of bitter tannins and a much more
pronounced apple flavour. Bulmer's claim that its all about the
blend of apple varieties they use (which they don't disclose the
    details of).

The most amazing thing is it's cheaper than Growers even though it
    has much further to travel.

    a tiki thing:

    --MM

    tiki thing

    1 oz spiced dark rum
    1 oz amber rum
    1 oz dry vermouth
    1 oz mango juice
    1 oz guava juice
    1 oz pineapple juice
    1 tsp Galliano
    1 tsp lime juice

I find many fancy drinks with multiple liquors and other ingredients
to be muddled in taste and a waste of fine spirits but sometimes it
    works.

This is what I had so this is what I used. I turned out pretty good.

    3 part Martinis

    --MM

    Elderflower Martini

    1 1/2 oz gin
    1/2 oz dry vermouth
    1/2 oz St Germain

The addition of a little elderflower flavoured St. Germain liqueur
yields a subtle and delightful change in taste and bouquet.

Making negronis with rum instead of gin is a real thing but not a
common practise. I tried one recently and was pleased:

    --MM

    4 part rum negroni

1 oz Kracken dark spiced rum
    1 oz sweet red Vermouth
    1 oz dry white Vermouth
    1 oz Campari

I like my negronis drier than the classic recipe so I generally add a
    little write vermouth to mine.

I planned to play with the ratios a bit but the first one, made with
one part of everything was just fine. This would make a fine
shaken or stirred and then strained cocktail but I mixed and served
    it simply, on the rocks.
