07 November 1492 - A FIREBALL 'OMEN' FALLS FROM THE SKY: A boy just
outside the walled village of Ensisheim, in what will one day be Alsace, France, witnesses a huge fireball fall from the sky and plunge a meter
deep into a field. Locals, who view the meteorite as a good omen, will
chisel pieces of the stone for themselves until a local official orders
    them to stop.

    Title: Meteorite Cookies
    Categories: Cookies, Novelties, Chocolate, Dairy
    Yield: 15 cookies

    1 lb Butter
8 tb Sour cream; divided (half
    - for glaze, half for batter
    4 Egg yolks; hard-boiled
    1 lb A-P Flour
    1/2 bs Baking soda
    4 oz Butter; for frosting
    8 tb Confectioner's sugar; for
    - frosting
6 ts Cocoa powder; for frosting
    10 oz Waffles; for sprinkling

    Begin by softening the butter

To the butter add 4 tb sour cream and the boiled egg
yolks. Knead well until smooth. You can use a blender,
    or a food processor.

Add flour and baking soda, mix well. The dough will
turn out soft and buttery, very tender.

Roll out the dough. If it sticks you can sprinkle a
little flour. Cut out circles in pairs to make an
    even number.

Bake in an oven @ 180ºC/306ºF, about 15 minutes.

While the cookies are baking, crush the waffles for
    sprinkles.

Once the cookies are baked, make the icing. Put all
the ingredients in a saucepan, put on low heat and
    bring to the boil, stirring.

Quickly dip each cookie in glaze, stick them in pairs,
    roll in wafer crumbs. Done.
