I'm with you, I would get the game on the Atari TT and with a trackball
I would go to town on the German planes. It was amazing. So fast
paced. And that game had some great detail and animation for it's
    time.

I've fired it up a few times in a DOS box in Ubuntu! Me and my best friend watched DUNE the other day, I had to go search for the Dune game by EA! Runs like it did back in the day! :)

    Ubuntu....... hiss!!

However, playing a game in dosbox would be a lot of fun. So how long
    did you play the game?

I think in dos box I would want to play Wolfenstein 3D or Descent.

Maybe some Pirates Gold. Now that was fun.

I use Wolf4SDL so I can play Wolfenstein 3D natively on linux, and I use d1x-rebirth to play descent natively on linux. Can be done on windows too.. so dosbox isn't needed for them.. :)

LOL... Ubuntu (Kubuntu) isn't too bad, I've been using it for about 2 years on my i5 'TinyPC' for my BBSes.. I've been thinking about maybe giving slack a try. But things run pretty good for the most part. :)

I've fired up DUNE a few times over the last few weeks! It runs pretty goood actually!

Oh that is nice. What versions of Descent are you playing? I haven't
played that game in a while.

I am running the d1x-rebirth version 0.58-1 from memory. There are newer development versions at the dxx-rebirth.com website along with add on levels created by the community. Windows zips can be found there as well.

You need to have the game data to run the game.

When I originally found the dxx-rebirth project I got the data from a torrent since that was all I could find. I later found Descent and Descent II on gog.com so I bought it there. They were removed from gog.com a short time later
and I don't know if it has or will return there or not.

I beleive the dxx-rebirth software will work with the Descent shareware and Decent II demo data as well and IIRC that is available at the dxx-rebirth.com website.

There is a new game along the lines of descent, a continuation I think by the original developers (I am not certain of that). Last I looked it was just starting up. I haven't yet but I have meant to look that up and see what is up there today. I forget at the moment what it was called but a search will likely
turn it up. It did look interesting to me.

The only minor experience on a mac was when I was in grade school when we had the IIe to play around with. I've seen a few macbooks. I think I actually read
someplace that MacOS is sorta based on linux/unix too?
