It was my first time with a digital camera too. I happend to pick a challenging subject.
Practically newborns, those little buggers never
seemed still.
In the latter pics..
The tabby = Kooza (inspired by the Cirque du Soliel show, meaning little
box of treasure or surprises)
The tuxedo = Orka (inspired by the b+w pattern resembling the orca)
When they were still babies, one evening as I went out to feed them, I stepped on the tabby with my workboots. It was already dark. The kittens were still cautious. I didn't see them coming to welcome me; they moved
fast. But at one of my next steps forward, I felt one of the kittens
under my boot and heard a correlating cry. Fortunately, this occurred in
a shed that had a very soft dirt/sand floor. The kitten avoided me for a
few days. But, later on, that tabby turned out to be the friendliest, as
you can tell by the pics.
....years ago we adopted 4 kittens from the ASPCA
at a mall in Ithaca... I remember the "sales person/volunteer" asked us repeatedly if we were sure we want all 4...I did since they were all from the same litter, and their mom hadn't survived

That was good of you to keep the famaily together. Thank goodness that cats/kittens are generally low maintenance and sleep most of the time.

It is interesting how they can vary in appearance so much from the *same* litter.
I volunteer to maintain and do the postings for a local pet rescue/
adoption website that I first built in 2010. It would be too tedius to manage in html with all the frequent changes almost daily. But wordpress makes it very easy.
Anyway.. I get to see a lot of cuteness with that work.

True, for the most part as you say... When we got them home the first
thing I had to do was get them in a room with a gate blocking the doorway to keep my two also newly adopted pups from eh... playing with them like rag dolls :( I've seen dogs play a bit bit too roughly with kittens :(

the details. I'm not a big fan of wordpress, but I can see why you'd want to use that method for a site that had so many updates.
Yes, I know what you mean there. I also checked out the dogs there ... My second love Lol... Since Indy, our yellow lab mix, had surgery last year
to have a large cancerous tumor removed I worry about our two pups. But once removed, it didn't come back, the vet said if it did reappear he'd remove it again. So far, it's good.
Speaking about weirdness in looks in the same litter, did you take a look at my two idiot dogs on my page, ? They couldn't look more different ... and again, from the same litter.

Yes.. sadly that's exactly what happened to one of the little ones in the litter that I featured in my photo collection here. She/he got too close
to the dog that is also featured in one of the albums. And.. the little kitten was so friendly and yearned for company. It was devastating to
notice the little discarded body one day.

Thanks. It's still not bad for a site built in 2008. The fixed size is
not suitable for today's smartphones though. Today's term is "responsive" for sites that adapt to smartphone and small tablet displays.

I was not too excited about Wordpress in the beginning either. But it is
the concept of CMS (content management system) that makes sense when
posting and managing a lot of separate pieces. PLUS.. for a site like
that, it is nice to have older things like in the ADOPTED section to automatically get deleted after a set time, instead of remembering to go
in to remove old stuff manually. Plus you can even post-date things, and they show up automatically on the date you want. Plus other things!
