• LCBO website breech, sheesh

From August Abolins@1:153/757.21 to All on Mon Jan 16 09:18:00 2023
Most Canadians have heard of the security breech that occurred
at the LCBO (Liquor Control Board Ontario) a few days ago.

There was pathetic interview on CBC radio with the "expert" who
basically said "it happened because it's easy - anyone can do
it." And his solution was "use PayPal".

    :(

The guy was simply brushing off any responsibilty with LCBO.

When will "experts" fess up and suggest that it could have very
well been some idiot employee who clicked on a malicious link
    and triggered the problem.

    However.. all is not lost:

"The in-store shopping experience is unaffected, the LCBO
    confirmed."

It started off as a coffee & doughnut shop along with some other pastries like muffins. It has since expanded into sandwiches, soups and they even had a burger for awhile.

I like their bagels (Montreal Style).

It's not as good as it used to be since being purchased by Burger King, which may explain the burger.

The closest I got to entering a Tim Horton's was with Nick when I accidentally totally unplanned bumped-in to him in Quebec City ... It was one of those cases of "How small is the world" ... Canada such a large country, you're there for 3 days and you run into a guy who doesn't even live close by.

We wanted to get something to eat and Nick said "Here's a Tim Horton's, let's go somewhere else".

Last November I stood in front of one near Calgary airport and both my daughter and granddaughter said "We'll have a pizza".

I like their bagels (Montreal Style).

    What's that?

It's not as good as it used to be since being purchased by Burger King,

    I heard about that.

Thank you for the information and you're attempt at keeping me fed if and when in Canada.

    I'd say, "no".

It's basically a coffee/donut shop. They have a lunch menu
(sandwiches, soups.. etc), but the portions are small.

It's an OK place to meetup with people after hours and have a
coffee/tea since many of them are 24/7.

I can't drink the Tim's version of coffee. There is added
sodium that creates a modest inflamation in my lips and in my
mouth, recently. It really wasn't a problem with their coffees
before. I know it's sodium, because I get the same reaction/
sensitivy with other high sodium goods.

Haven't tried their decaf (which I would prefer since I've
dropped drinking caffeinated coffee all together for a while
    now).

But I simply brew my own with a paper cone gizmo over the cup.

I am guessing their TP is similar to ours, where you can buy plain paper,
but there are also scented varieties, as well as ones with lotion, and
there used to be several that were dyed, either a solid color (pink or
blue, usually) or with a print.

I have not seen any that is dyed in a while. I would be concerned that some
of the cheaper varieties may use cheaper, less "refined" paper than what is in a coffee filter.

At some point in time, there was a "stink" about TP that had undisclosed chemicals in it that were causing sensitive people to have rashes.
Remembering that, I would be leery of using it how you describe.

Dunno about Euro TP but in NA it is designed to desintegrate
into a pulpy mess almost immediately upon getting wet. Seems
like a foolish choice to use as a coffee filter. There would
certainly be little bits of paper fiber and toxins mixed with

Maybe he is having us on. As you point out, most of the NA TP would fall

Out here we keep it, used, and there's a government buy-back scheme ... everybody is required to have enough soiled toilet-paper available. Non-compliance results in sky high HSIDNKT-taxes. It explains the run to toilet-paper with the outbreak of Covid19 in 2020.

Seems like a foolish choice to use as a coffee filter. There would certainly be little bits of paper fiber and toxins mixed with
