    Tit for tat? Dunno.

Good question! But apparently Canada hasn't imported any since
    2019, according to this:

    https://www.canada.ca/en/natural-resources-canada/news/2022/02/ government-of-canada-moves-to-prohibit-import-of-russian-
    oil.html

Apparently Canada holds the world's 3rd largest oil reserves
    (tar sands?).

I think I may have learned the reason. Transportation costs.
Canada is apparently a very big country. <G> Getting the oil
to the East can be a risky and costly affair. Hence, imports
supply the oil supply for the East, at least.

We havescads ofg oil in Canaad, but we gave it away for free over the years to American corporations.

Mainland BC has more ready to pump oil than Alberta, Texas, & California COMBINED!

I'm not sure we can ban Russian oil -- we're part of OPEC. I don
't know what their rules are regarding sourcing -- you usually only hear about them re pricing.

We can, for sure, cancel this year's shipment of tonnes of wheat & other prairie goodies.

Considering Russia is the owner/operator of the CCP(Trudeau's hero), I'm not sure he'll do anything meaningful regarding Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

I think NATO, since Ukraine was in talks to join, should join in, but only Europe's members -- let's not make this a 3-continents' war.

North America can do the sanctions thing, as, hopefuly, would the Middle East - - Russia's oil supply will only go so fsar with a war going on.

Ukraine would be wise to bomb a few major refineries, to hasten the start of serious peace talks.

I'd like to arbitrate that negotiation, but I don't speak diplomacy.

My thought, too -- we have lots, & I mean LOTS of reasdily pumpable crude oil - - it's unlisted on our federal oil/mineral reserves lists, though as our previous governments sold us out big-time.

The talk of offshore drilling & environment for BC oil is a red herring that's been all too effective. I was duped, too, until I got a tip, & checked up on the facts, as published by Ottawa. (I spent over 8 hours going through the data of the past 50+ years)
