=C2 Many miracles both during his life and after his death

INFORMATION is lacking about this holy Carthusian lay-brother, whose
cultus was confirmed by Pope Pius IX in 1860. It is known that he
belonged to the charter-house Casularum in Lombardy and as he was in
charge of the external business of the monastery his sanctity was a
matter of more public knowledge than is usually the case among
Carthusian monks. =E2=80=9CHe was untutored in theology, in philosophy and =
    in
worldly knowledge, but in spiritual life and good works he was most
    learned.

His holiness was made known by very many miracles both during his life
and after his death.=E2=80=9D Accounts of some of the miracles attributed t=
    o
him have been preserved. One preposterous marvel is stated to have
happened during his lifetime. When returning from his field work
leading a mule William was attacked by robbers. Having no weapon to
defend himself, he seized the leg of the mule, pulled it out of its
socket, and brandishing it against his assailants, put them all to
flight. This done he restored the leg to its place and the mule went
on uninjured. It seems to be certain that in still existing paintings
Bl. William is represented with the leg of a mule or donkey in his
    hand.

An account of this good brother is given both in Le Couteulx, Annales
Ordinis Cartusiensis vol. iii, pp. 293-302 and in the Analecta Juris Pontificii, vol. v, 1861, cc. 129-134. In both, the greater part of
the space is taken up with attestations of miracles alleged to have
been worked at the intercession of Bd William many centuries after his
    death.

    Saint Quote:
May we never risk the life of our souls by being resentful or by
    bearing grudges.
    --St. Gregory of Nyssa

    Bible Quote:
=C2 For my people have done two evils. They have forsaken me, the
fountain of living water, and have digged to themselves cisterns,
broken cisterns, that can hold no water. (Jeremiah 2:13)=C2 DRB

    Prayer for peace:

Lord Jesus Christ, who didst say unto Thine Apostles:
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you, not as the
world giveth, do I give unto you," regard not our sins but Thy
merits, and grant unto all Thy servants, that they whom the
Almighty Father hath created and governeth, and whom Thou
hast redeemed with Thy Precious Blood and hast ordained
unto everlasting life, may love one another with all their
hearts for Thy sake, and may be made one in spirit and
rejoice in Thy perpetual peace.=C2 Lord Jesus Christ,
concerning whom the Prophet hath said: "And all kings of the
earth shall adore Him, all nations shall serve Him," extend
Thy reign over the whole human race.=C2 Send upon all men the
light of Thy faith, deliver them from all the snares and bonds
of passion, and direct them to heavenly things; and graciously
grant, that the kingdoms and nations may be united by means
of Thine immaculate Bride, Holy Church, and, through the
intercession of the blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace,
may serve Thee in all humility; and that all tongues and
peoples may form one great choir, to praise Thee both day
and night, to bless Thee, to exalt Thee, O King of the nations
and Ruler thereof, O Prince of peace, immortal King of ages.
    Amen.

Immaculate Queen of Peace, pray for us.
