    Hello All,

Ray Gwinn and I are in discussion about my taking over the care and feeding of SIO/VMODEM (a telnet engine/virtual modem/FOSSIL driver for OS/2 that Ray developed about 25 years ago). Nothing is set in stone yet but the discussion is going well.

That'd be cool ... I didn't think he still had the code for it. If you do, get SIO 1.60d ... the SIO2K one didn't seem to work well.

... I saw what you did, and would like your phone #.

I'd get the code for both. As it is all written in assembly language, I have a steep learning curve in front of me. I'd like to get SIO2K working.

If you can continue it great! I never had much like with it. SIO was picky on my hardward ... I was stuck on 1.45 for a while, 1.60 crashed a lot, then 1.60d was very stable .... I have 1.60d on my Arca setup, but vmodem is giving me crap starting. Then I figured I'd downgrade to 1.45 and see if it helped, but then it errors ont he config.sys and I am too lazy to install the iso and boot to the cmd prompt to fix it. So it has been sitting like that for a week or so. <G>

I think that was my ONLY beef from OS/2 .... anything died in that config.sys you were SCREWED unless you had a good backup and the os install to get you to a prompt.

... Don't tell me how hard you work. Tell me how much you get

When you see the white bar with "OS/2" next to it during boot, press Alt-F1. You will go to a boot screen where you can boot up using the original CONFIG.SYS from a command prompt and edit the current CONFIG.SYS using TEDIT. I'm surprised you didn't know that.

does that mean open sourcing it? vmodem needs some serious work to be on the public internet. i have vmodem partially reverse engineered .. it has a few undocumented DosDevIOCtl calls to turn the emulated DCD, etc on and off and I
could really use the source to figure it out..

also, i thought that netlabs was already in talks with him? all of that code
is in assembly and they'd be able to maintain/improve it for ArcaOS, OS4, etc
